IBA Launches First Ever Legal Seminar Series

On Thursday, October 30th, the IBA launched its first ever legal seminar series: “Legally Speaking: A Legal Education Series for IBA Members”. The 3-part series is being presented, sponsored and hosted by new IBA Corporate Partner Flaster/Greenberg, PC.

The first installment in the series, entitled “Hot New Topics in Employment Law for LGBT Employers & Employees” took a look at the recent decisions by the Courts and the NLRB which impact LGBT employers and employees.

During the very interactive and highly engaged panel discussion, some of the topics discussed, which can affect any employer or employee, whether they are LGBT or an ally, were: same-sex marriage, sexual orientation and the Supreme Court; the latest in medical leaves and disability law; social media and the latest cases on acceptable policies; and the NLRB decisions which are impacting union and non-union employers.

We thank Flaster/Greenberg, PC for affording this extraordinary benefit to IBA Members. We would particularly like to thank the panelists who gave of their time and expertise for this first part in the series: Michael D. Homans, Esq., Adam E. Gersh, Esq., and Kenneth R. Gilberg, Esq.

Stay tuned for the next in the series slated for late winter/early spring on Real Estate and what you need to know from a legal standpoint if you hold a deed or own property, whether solely or jointly – particularly if you are a member of the LGBT Community.
